First, run the "MSCONFIG" command to open the system configuration utility dialog box. Next, on the "General" tab click on "selective startup" and clear the following checkboxes: Process SYSTEM.INI, Process WIN.INI and Load Startup Items. Thirdly, on the "Startup" tab you need to do the following: select the "hide all Microsoft services" check box, select the "disable all" button. Finally, select the check box of one of the services on the Startup tab and reboot your PC.
2. Restart
After you have restarted your computer, check to see if the runtime error pops up again when you go to run your application. If the error comes up again, then the service that you selected in the Startup tab may be the cause.
3. Repeat the Analysis
If no error occurs, then repeat the process for all the programs and services in the Startup tab until you find the conflicting program. You will then be able to rectify the problem and fix runtime errors.
